The secret to great makeup is amazing skin care. Since foundation and concealer can only do so much I put extra time and energy in making sure my skin stays A1 consistently. Below is a list of my current skin care faves…!
Yes To Cucumbers Face Wipes ($4)
After a long day the first step to my skin care process is to wipe off my makeup. I usually only need one of the Yes To makeup wipes get most of my makeup off.
When I discovered micellar water a few years ago I was so thankful I no longer had to use coconut oil to remove my mascara. I use the waterproof Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water every night by applying the water on two cotton pads and holding to my eyes for 5-10 seconds. Just like that my mascara is gone!
African black soap- Dudu Osun ($12.50 for 6)
I use African black soap when acne begins to appear on my face. I wouldn’t recommend for daily use but maybe 2-3 times a week since it can be a bit drying.
L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Cleanser – Exfoliate & Refine Cleanser ($6)
This cleanser leaves my skin feeling so clean and smooth, sometimes I just use this and a moisturizer and I’m good to go.
ZO® SKIN Health Exfoliating Polish ($67)
This is the best exfoliator I have ever used. I got it in a goodie bag from a hydrofacial event I went to in June. I’ve been using it once or twice a week since! I can feel the little beads heating up and removing the dirt from my skin. It is a bit pricey but I will definitely be buying another one when I run out. I am on the hunt for a more affordable version but I do believe that skincare is something worth investing in.
OXY Maximum Action 3 in 1 Acne Treatment Pads ($5)
This is another product I use when I feel acne getting comfortable on my face. They are not playing when they say “Maximum action” I feel it working right away!
Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol Free Toner – Rose Petal ($10)
While shadowing a dermatologist, I asked her about tiny bumps on my face specifically on my forehead, they were the type of bumps that were not poppable but noticeable at least to me. She recommended witch hazel and she was right. I use this just about everyday. The bumps have been gone but I love the way it feels on my skin.
Tatcha Water Cream ($68)
This cream is another product that I received in a gift bag that I will be buying when I run out. Its so lightweight and effective! It leaves my skin feeling smooth and moisturized without looking and feeling oily.
CosRX Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream ($17)
Before I discovered the tactcha water cream I was using this hylauonic acid moisturizer that I still love so I decided to make it an honorable mention. I only use it at night because it leaves my skin looking a bit shiny but it is effective and I would definitely recommend if you are looking for an affordable moisturizer.
Thrive Causemetics overnight mask ($62)
This mask had my SHOOK! After the first night of use my skin felt smoother than a baby’s bottom. I noticed my makeup applied better the next day as well. Smooth healthy skin is key to flawless makeup application!
I like to use this mask when I have pimples that are almost ready to pop but are just not ready yet. I put the mud mask on to dry out the pimples and speed up the process so that they’re ready to pop sooner!
Patchology under-eye masks ($60)
I bought the day time and night time ones after one of my favorite makeup artists used them on me during a shoot. They reduce the puffiness under my eyes and make me look more awake. I keep them in my fridge to really wake me up when I put them on. I would definitely repurchase but I would only purchase the night ones, because I can still use it in the mornings and the day ones leave a bit of white residue.
